Well, everything is a lot, but for sure it’s very important in my live! For the last few days I’ve seen the video below several times and every time I see it it gives me tears in my eyes because I’m laughing so hard. Best medicine ever! Take a look for yourself and wait for 30 seconds…
Nice interesting title he? Well, this is the first time I make a post to boost my own ego. Let’s try it, maybe I like it.
For years there already exists a website that every internet surfer has at least visited once . It’s called hot or not and consists of the simple idea of placing your picture online and to let it be rated by other people. Years ago I visited it, and it was fun to rate people for a while, but after some votes the boredom already set it and I forgot about the site.
Until last week, when a friend of mine sent me an email with a link to rate her at this website. I was curious after seeing her high score, how high a male would score. To refine, most of the photos you see are from girls taking special poses so they look sexy and hot, so they get high ratings. I thought I could do that as well and I put on my most sexy face I could and even try to do my zoolander imitation, but that didn’t work out. So in the end I got the most normal picture, made it black and white and voila, I put it online at hot or not.
I forgot to check it for a few days and today it popped back in my head and I checked my score. I got 46 votes and my rating is 8.7 which means I’m hotter then 86% of all men on that site. Well, that’s a good ego boost for me! Whoo hoo! Let’s see how my rating develops as it gets more votes. Click on the picture to rate me! And if I see my rating suddenly drop I know who did it, my dear readers! ;)
In the mean time I put my standards somewhat higher and from now on I only will be dating playboy bunnies or rich good looking women!
Amazing stuff if you look at the video below! Who remembers the beach landing scene from “Saving Private Ryan”? One of the most busiest and intense scenes I’ve ever seen in a video. Richard Hammond and some friends are going to recreate that scene on a very low budget and the results is fantastic!
I just like these kind of video’s full with statistics, numbers and other knowledgeable stuff. Got a few more in my collection that I want to share, but I put them online later on. This way you get a small idea what my brain is busy with. ;)
Focus, dedication and productivity are a few keywords I have very high on my list for this year. It’s been a while, once again, since I updated this website. So a new year and some new resolutions to keep up, makes that I come back to my own blogging. A new job and some family stuff makes a lot of changes in my live, and what better then to throw in some small changes with the big ones when you’re at it.
Got some stuff lined up that I want to do with this website, and for the first step I updated the wordpress version to the latest one and put in a nice new theme, somewhat more to my liking. Still not perfect, but for sure better then the standard boring wordpress plugin.
As you may have noticed you see a twitter box to the right. This box is for my own micro blogging that I do. It’s sometimes easier to put my thought in one sentence through an sms then to login to wordpress and type it in, including pictures and nice layout. So for the fast and spontaneous blogging keep an eye to the right!
As I already had a very productive evening this night, I will keep it short for now. I’m not going to make any promises about how many times I will update the website again, I’ll write when I want to.
Keywords to write about in future: new job, personal life, sport, my body, mind, speed reading, mind mapping, travel, children, education, plans, shark company, freediving, social networking, web2.0, and so much more…
Last night I was testing out another social networking website called Netlog. More on Netlog later, because I had some inspiration while filling in my profile over there which would also stand pretty okay to publish on my own blog. When being asked to write something about myself, I thought it was better to describe the (one of…) perfect day for me. As I wrote it in Dutch, below is the translated version.
Get up early to do something sportive. For example a day filled with snowboarding at snow world. And of course not like 4 hours of apres ski and 4 hours on the board! No, just 8 hours on the board raging over the course. Or for example a day of diving in Zealand. As long as it is challenging, sportive and giving me an adrenaline boost.
At the beginning of the evening we go to the sushi place to be, and we enjoy the food and talk about what we have done and what we are going to do. After that we go sit outside at some cafe and enjoy the people walking by and let the food set in.
After midnight it’s time to go crazy is some club and stay there until the early hours around 5-6 in the morning. And what happens after that all depends on the whole day that has gone by already.
Any other people out there who are somewhat like minded in my perfect day?
Lot has already been said and written about social networking. There are so many different social networking websites on the net that it is sometimes difficult to pick out the right one. And if you start with one, you will probably end up with several accounts on different social networks as well, because of course you don’t want to miss one friend! Imagine that you do… Everybody will think you are a loser!
Some people really make it a sport to gather as much friends as possible, because they think the higher their number of friends they have, the higher their status in society will be. It’s funny to see sometimes remarks from these highly connected people that they like their real friends, excluding hereby probably at least 90% of their network.
Personally I hate the remark ”real friend”, because it emphasizes the sadness of the fact what they are doing. They are just adding people to their network to please their own ego, and hoping that everybody will say wow. In a later post I will write my own terms about friendship.
The last 10 days or so I invested some time in a famous Dutch social network website called Hyves. In April this year this site had 3,266,581 unique profiles on their site, which is a pretty high number if you a the total number of people living in the Netherlands. Most of them being Dutch and probably between the age of 18 until 25, the age where getting confirmations from people so your are sure about yourself plays a major fact in life. ;) I guess if you are in a club in the Netherlands and see a nice girl you want to know better, you can just ask for her Hyves profile name and you’re on. ;)
At first I was a little bit hold back because most of my friends didn’t use Hyves or don’t live in the Netherlands at all and are out of scope for this website. But after discovering the possibility to find back old school mates, work colleagues from current and past companies I worked for, it was pretty funny! I didn’t expect to find so many old friends at all!
Currently I’m continuing my little experiment. Social networking is really part of the web 2.0 revolution and the way to 3.0 highway of linking everything to everything. I will give some more updates later on, as I’m testing also some other social networking sites and sometimes wonder about some stuff that you find there.
Google is a fun playground to hang around. Everyday I find some new use to it. For example, most digital cameras use the DSCxxxxx.jpg naming convention. So the first name a photo gets when using a digital camera for the first time is DSC00001.jpg. This combined that you can search for images at the google search engine makes it pretty funny to see what the first picture looks like when people start using their new digital camera. The result will not surprise you. Take a look here to go directly to the search results.
We probably know more about the Moon and Mars then about the deep sea of our own planet. There is still so much undiscovered territory down there. Sometimes fascinating new species are found and they just look so alien-like, it’s amazing to watch. Take a look here for some amazing photo’s and species from our own oceans.
